Building Holy Families Podcast

Fr. Jaime Lorenzo, LC, hosts a podcast series called Building Holy Families, designed to provide parents with the tools and resources to support them along their spiritual journey and in their mission to build a happy and holy home.

The Building Holy Families podcast provides conversations and suggestions on a diverse variety of topics (like “How to have meaningful conversations with your children,” “Inspiring trust,” and “Should my child get a phone?”) but what they all have in common is that they are short, sharable, and practical. Most of the episodes are approximately 7-10 minutes long, and offer parents ideas, motivations, and challenges to get them thinking about their own spiritual journey and owning the faith for their family. Here, parents can find best practices to guide their children through the world that is full of spiritual obstacles and not always amenable to the faith, while their eyes and hearts are set on heaven.

November Prayer-a-Day Calendar for Souls in Purgatory

Regnum Christi member, CC Christopherson of Ohio, shares a way she and her family make the most of the month of November with a calendar on which each day is assigned to a deceased person whom they pray for on that day.

This is a calendar printout you can keep on your fridge to remind everyone of their holy November mission. You write the name of a deceased loved one on each day of the calendar, reminding you to dedicate your prayers and sacrifices for them on that day. Lenten Virtual Pilgrimage of Prayer Through Jerusalem

With the ongoing conflict in the Holy Land continuing to prevent pilgrims from visiting Jerusalem, the holy sites in Jerusalem remain mostly empty. In 2024, Magdala announced the release of its Lenten Virtual Pilgrimage of Prayer Through Jerusalem, allowing people from all over the world to visit Jerusalem virtually during Lent.

The daily 20-minute program took virtual pilgrims to well-known holy sites, including Calvary, Jesus’ tomb, Mount Zion, Gethsemane, the Western Wall, and the Way of the Cross, accompanied by a reflection on Christian prayer from these and many other hidden monasteries and Churches in the Old City that most visitors have never seen.

You can find out more information on Magdala’s website, Instagram account, and YouTube account.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at Louisiana State Penitentiary

It all started with two families from Pinecrest Academy, a Regnum Christi school in the suburbs of Atlanta, where Regnum Christi member Roberto Sánchez Mejorada, who had children at the school, met Jorge Valdés, a businessman and philanthropist who had made some bad decisions when he was younger. Jorge is an ex-convict who made a radical life change. In 2011, Jorge invited Burl Cain, who was then warden of the Angola prison, to give a conference at Pinecrest Academy. After that talk, Roberto Sánchez Mejorada took on the commitment to organize a father/son mission trip to visit the Angola prison. Roberto bought an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe with the intention of bringing it to the prison. He invited several businesspeople to accompany him and to give the image to the jail. The prison warden, Burl, was seeking to generate a “moral renewal” in the jail.  There are nine chapels of different faiths at Angola, built by private donations. “God lives in this prison,” Cain affirmed. But a Catholic chapel was missing. Only in 2013 was it possible to build the chapel, thanks to the support of a group of Mexican businessmen. 300 Hispanic inmates worked on its construction and even painted murals on its walls. The chapel was finished in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On December 12, 2013, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe was dedicated in a maximum-security prison in Louisiana. Ten years have passed now, and the blessings have poured forth generously, as could be expected in a “community” with a devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe. On the 10th anniversary of the chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, they held a consecration ceremony to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this occasion, a Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr. Edouard Marot, who travelled from Belgium to give his testimony about the apparition of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, along with the missionary Alicia Beauvisage. Under the leadership of Tim Hooper, the prison’s current warden, Angola Prison has developed programs of moral reform and dignified treatment. Deacon Billy Messenger tends to the Catholic community and encourages the faith of each inmate in his spiritual growth with great dedication and commitment.

Divine Mercy Healing Retreat

Divine Mercy Retreat team follows the spirit and methodology of John Paul II Healing Center, and the content of this retreat is based on the book, Be Healed, by Dr Bob Schuchts, which consists of three parts: Encountering Jesus, Facing Our Brokenness, and Healing Our Wounds.

This is not a silent retreat. The interaction both with team members and retreatants has proven to be a powerful way for the Holy Spirit to work through the community of believers. There are dedicated times of silence for prayer and reflection.

The above themes unfold one day at a time: Encountering Jesus on Friday, Facing Our Brokenness on Saturday, and Healing Our Wounds on Sunday. The themes are exposed through a total of seven dynamic talks illustrated by personal testimonies, followed by an exercise for personal application.

We offer the Celebration of the Eucharist each day of the retreat, as well as an opportunity for confession. We offer adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, during which time team members are available for prayer. On Sunday we offer the inner healing prayer for each retreatant. Throughout the retreat during breaks retreatants are welcome to consult team members for support.
